Making space for an unhurried chapter
Reading time does not have to be long to feel generous. Choose a chapter or a few pages and a place where you can sit comfortably. A bookmark and a glass of water may be all the preparation you need.
When a sentence catches your attention, pause before reaching for a pen. Read it again in its paragraph. Sometimes the surrounding rhythm matters as much as the sentence itself. Write a brief response in your own words if you want to keep the thought.
Leave a small note where you stop: a question, an image or a character you want to return to. It gives the next reading session a gentle beginning without turning a book into a task to complete.
